This was a very interesting article I just came across at Techmeme. I guess it was coming to this, the world being more and more opensource, community driven, cloud based applications, and Microsoft still trying to push the same old things over and over again. Dont get me wrong, as Ive been a Windows user for many many years, and used to get excited way back to the QBasic years, but after realising how I didnt need to be fighting with the machinefor it to do what I simply needed it to do – in Unix based systems like Linux/OSX, More >

Recently doing some addons to a project, I was modifying its factory class, and did the mistake of trying to compile the project with a code which tried to load the main app instance without the application being fully loaded.

Seems these Japanese chaps are enjoying porting cool stuff to Flash.
After Saqoosha’s nicely done port of the ARToolKit to FLARToolKit pattern recognition library,
now we encounter Ohtsuka Masakazu’s port of OpenCV to Marilena.

Hello everyone,
Here is a little piece of work I recently bumped into and definitely think the developers deserve a round of applause.
This is a Flash “Effect generator”, highly adjustable, select your assets of whatever media format, add effects, move, pan, stretch, skew, undo, redo, add shadow, mirror, glow… etc…. Loads of options!
Output a screenshot of your piece, add interactions… publish it… do this…. do that…
As you can see, too many things to mention here… Just check it out

Yesterday not very far from my office in London, Adobe and other companies like GLUE and .net, sponsored a Flash community ‘get-together’ named “Flash Camp”. ( http://www.flashcamp.co.uk/ )
Though the talks were aimed at a more creative/designer audience, the techies were there making more then half of the room.
The usual publicity numbers were shown by Adobe and short in-depths of future technologies were presented. Mobile is increasingly becoming a priority, with I’m sure you have all seen the numbers, making mobile handsets by far the most sold and used consumer electronics in the world today. Adobe is definitely aware of this and More >

Hello everyone,
While this is not a new subject, it does keep amazement going everytime something fresh comes along.
This time the amazement comes from Adobe MAX being held in Japan, where a demo of Flash object recognition capabilities was being demonstrated.
FLARToolKit Demo from Ryan Stewart on Vimeo
This demo comes from what is known as the Spark Project which is an Open source community to develop Flash/ActionScript projects.
For the more tech savvy’s, this is a demo using the FLARToolKit, which is a port from an original Java toolkit called NyARToolKit. “FLARToolkit will detect the marker from input image and calculate the camera position in More >
